How are you using your blog to pull in profits right now? Chances are you’re doing what 90% of the marketers out there do and simply have a blog where you post great content and then periodically promote affiliate products or CPA offers. After all, that’s the commonly ‘prescribed’ method of making money by blogging.

While that does work, to a degree, there are more advanced methods that could be way more effective. One of these is: Leverage.

Even if you have no introduction whatsoever to leverage, you’ll find that you can use your blog as part of a plan that uses it to perfection. In fact, the only thing you need (apart from your blog, of course!) is an eBook product of your own. Without your own product you’ll find that you can carry out this plan in different ways – but it won’t be as effective.

So let’s say you have an eBook. Were you to just go about marketing the ‘normal’ way via your blog, you’d probably dedicate a post or two to it, and maybe even set up a sales page. However, you’re not going to do that. Instead, you’re going to take that eBook and extract a chapter that you feel is particularly interesting, and make it into a 10 page report or so.

Now you have two products: An eBook and a report. From that report, you can then create blog posts that talk about various topics that are covered in the report itself. Try to aim for around 5 or so. Each of these blog posts should be aimed at eventually leading the reader to the report itself, which you’re going to be giving away for FREE when your readers sign up to your list. Perhaps you might have a newsletter that you send your readers to like Online Success News

Basically, this means that when people read your blog posts, they’ll have the option of finding out more by simply signing up to your list and downloading the report for free. In the report, there should also be an option to find out even more by purchasing your eBook!

See how you’re now using a linear plan for marketing?

Truth be told, you could branch things out even further, and create various other blog posts from your eBook itself to promote both the report and eBook. By not promoting the eBook directly though, you’re going to be simply ‘providing value’ to your readers, and it is far less likely to come off as simply trying to palm products off onto them. Besides your blog you could also do Article Marketing as well.

At the same time, you’ll be building your list and starting to be able to market more and more products as and when you come up with them.

Using this strategy, you should be able to pull in far more profits from your blog simply by maximizing the effectiveness of your marketing. That in itself will set you apart from the minnows of the marketing world, and let you swim with the big fish!

This is one of the main reasons that social media networking shines through, but even that has some drawbacks. How is someone without the much needed social capital able to break into the social networks in order to take advantage of everything offered?

This is where blog networks can help. Put simply, blog networks are collections of blogs related to specific topics, often grouped together to provide commercial and other forms of support. As these networks take many forms, generalizing them can be a challenge, but here are a few broad characteristics and the advantages they offer.

First of all, the blog networks will combine multiple blogs into one single feed. Ideally, you would be able to attract visitors to your site, allowing you to generate ad revenue as other revenues streams. However, in order to start making money online, you have to make your content accessible to many readers. If the administrators of the chosen blog networks feel that your site provides content that’s in keeping with their posted guidelines, your content will quickly be syndicated to all the readers that are following the network. Readers that are passionate about a particular topic, and the numbers can be staggering, find this a convenient way to access information. If readers find your posts interesting enough, they will visit your site often to join in discussions. This method allows you to attract viewers that would have been missed if you had focused all your attention on directly drawing traffic.

Additionally, blog networks will use social networking in order to promote themselves as well as their bloggers. It can be tough to integrate your blog into the social networks, especially if you’re unfamiliar with the opportunities that are available and the variety of ways in which a huge amount of technologies interact. Since most of the administrators of blog networks aren’t really concerned with content creation, since bloggers do it for them, they can concentrate their efforts of promotion. For example, blog networks may automatically post links to Twitter. With a catchy title, your blog post might attract curious readers, buy could also be retweeted and distributed beyond the individual network.

Another benefit to joining blog networks are the relationships formed within. For some, blogging can be lonely work, and getting started without the social connections can seem quite difficult. Even bloggers who would be quite good given time might give up in frustration due to lack of initial support, and the feeling of being a part of something larger. For the new blogger, such support and motivationmay make the difference between a successful career and something tossed aside in frustration.

There are a variety of networks from which to choose, ranging from general to networks that focus on particular niches. Blog networks also exhibit a wide array of models, from highly informal aggregations of feeds to well-structured businesses with associated benefits and costs. Before joining any of the blog networks, take some time to do some research and find the different options that are available for your topic, as there are many lists published online. Also, investigate the blogs of network members to ensure that theirs are weblogs with which you wish to associate.

Just like many other things, blog networks aren’t right for everyone. However, a blog network is a powerful tool that can help harness the power of social media to your benefit, and should be given serious consideration by anyone wishing to make money online.

I recently bought a Clickbank CPA product with one of its numerous upsells.

When I opened the download and looked at what I was getting I sensed a serious disconnect with the promise in the sales letter and the product received. This product was promoted by a number of Clickbank affiliates in a similar way to other products promoted by a similar group of marketers.

The M.O. was the same, hype the product, low initial price, numerous upsells, special inner circle etc. But if the basic offering is nothing new you soil the chances and sour the customer from purchasing again from emails that are being sent out by the JV partners, which then leads to pissed off customers and refunds.

You can fool some of the people some of the time, but it will catch up. I recently bought another product that has done the reverse. It constantly surprises me with the value it provides and makes me all the stickier because of the good feeling and lack of hype and bs.

When you reward the customer with good new content and value, and show the customer continuing value you will have a customer for life.
